Location – College Road Cork
Client – Bon Secours Health System Ltd.
Designers – Horganlynch
Role/Service – Design, Project Management & Civil & Structural Engineering

This project consisted of the renovation and refurbishment of an existing basement in the hospital to accommodate a modern fully equipped pharmacy facility and cytotoxic compunding unit, completed within a live hospital. The project entailed structural assessment, design and cleanroom elements. Horganlynch designed and delivered all associated infrastructural provision to this facility including new Hospital Medical gas delivery infrastructure. Horganlynch also provided critical design innovation to achieve a bespoke pharmacy & clean room facility within a very restricted space.

This work required considerable co-ordination and pre-planning to ensure the continued smooth operation of an oncology day ward directly above the pharmacy and all other general hospital activities in the vicinity. Horganlynch prepared and oversaw the implementation of a site management plan which successfully dealt with all traffic, neighbours and adjacent site/operation issues.

As principal Design and Project Managers Horganlynch worked closely with the Hospital Project team and the other design team members. This project was successfully delivered on time and within budget to the clients restricted timescale of 9 months. Horganlynch procured all statutory permissions i.e. Planning & Fire Certs within this time.
