The UCC Post-Graduate Library project is a 6,000 m2 multi-storey purpose built Library Facility including special archive storage, lecture and reading rooms, student study areas and library administration faculties.  The principal structural design comprises reinforced multi-storey concrete flat slabs construction. This landmark building was constructed successfully in a live college campus with minimum disruption to the college operation.

This was a particularly challenging project, as the works entailed the extension to the existing library facility incorporating demolition of existing library structure and excavation for double basement construction through limestone bedrock adjacent to the existing library building which remained in continuous operation thought out the course of the works.
Horganlynch provided full Civil & Structural Engineering services on this project including construction management planning, specialist demolition specification and pre construction enabling works design incorporating extensive diversion of services and civil infrastructures.
